Hello There!
I usually make a hot cup of green or chamomile tea before I sit down to write my newsletter. It’s part of my writing ritual. I shut out the distractions and put Microsoft Word in Focus Mode.
At least, that’s the plan.
But on this particular morning, I decided to check my inbox first.
Well…you know how that goes.
By the time I got out of my inbox, my tea was lukewarm, and I hadn’t even started my newsletter.
My tea was just…meh. And no one enjoys that.
I ended up heating it back up in the microwave, but I came to the realization that lukewarm tea feels a lot like the way we can sometimes run our business.
Lukewarm Tea

I didn’t make enough effort to completely remove distractions.
In other words, it was lukewarm effort. This is exactly what can hold us back in our business.
They can show up in various ways like starting projects that we never really get finished, posting on social media without much intention, or taking on clients we’re “okay” with but not excited about.
Let’s just say I wasn’t satisfied with my lukewarm effort, and most certainly not my lukewarm tea.
I had the opportunity to decide whether to commit fully to writing my newsletter, or let it go and write it another time, but I didn’t.
Small wins usually comes when we decide to either heat it up (go all in, give it energy, focus and intention) or cool it down (let it go, stop dragging it along).
So, what’s one area in your business that feels lukewarm, or where you feel you’re putting lukewarm effort?
Will you decide to turn up the heat or let it go?
If it matters, recommit and give it your best focus.
If it doesn’t, let it go and free up energy.

The Bottom Line
When I think back to that cup of tea, it wasn’t only the taste that bothered me…it was also the reminder of what happens when I let distractions get in the way of my effort.
We don’t get momentum from staying lukewarm. We get it from being bold enough to decide if we should turn up the heat or let it go.
Chuckle of the day! 😂
What’s a lukewarm tea’s favorite exercise?
Steeping slowly.
