Hello There!
Two years in this past June. That’s how long I’ve been running this business officially. I started it as a side hustle thirteen years ago while I worked other full-time jobs.
Now, I’ve had two years of figuring out the business acumen side of things and after all that I wondered if it’s still working for me, because I’ve pretty much been running on auto-pilot mode these past couple years.
I thought to myself…is this it?
Is this how I want to keep doing things?
Second Opinion

I developed routines and systems, and I know what I’m doing, but I haven’t gotten the chance to break away and see if something is really working or if it’s a process I’m just tolerating.
Like when I got dressed for our local Farmer’s Market this past Saturday, I put on this maxi dress that I haven’t worn in a while because something about it always felt off. I put it on again and my feelings did not change. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either.
I asked my husband what he thought, and his response was,
“Who are you dressing for? The 1940’s?

That was the second opinion I needed to once and for all get rid of that dress.
It wasn’t because I didn’t trust myself. I just needed a second pair of eyes, and if there is anyone’s opinion that matters most to me, it’s his.
That’s what this phase feels like to me right now after two years. I know I don’t need to pivot or rebrand, but I just need a fresh pair of eyes to look and see where I could make some adjustments.
That comment from my husband made me laugh, but it also stuck with me all weekend.
I suppose that dress was a symbol.
We all have some processes that we set up during the early stages of our business that probably don’t quite fit the pace that we’re at right now.
It could be your pricing structure or an offer that doesn’t work anymore.
So, I’ve started to take inventory of these processes, not to overhaul, but to better realign things.
We can’t forget that our brain is the offer.
If you’re in a similar spot, it’s time to try out those systems and processes again. Keep what still feels good, get a second opinion about the ones you’re unsure of and let go of the rest.
I’m learning that just because something fits doesn’t mean it flatters.
And in business, just alike, we need to let go of what no longer flatters.
The Bottom Line
Sometimes we just need to trust our instincts and rework the pieces. We don’t want to always settle for “it works”. We actually need everything to fit and flatter.
Chuckle of the day! 😂
“Got a second opinion on my business. Turns out, I’m the problem and the solution.”
