I’ll admit it, I’m the type who loves scary movies and true crime, even if I sometimes peek through the cracks of my fingers. It’s that thrilling rush, the heart-pounding scare, even when I’m not sure I can handle it.
The same feeling hits me when I walk into a Halloween haunted house. The fog, the creaks, the eerie shadows that you question every step. It’s all too real. But surprisingly, that experience mirrors what it feels like to be a solo professional.
Why? Because entrepreneurship is full of:
- Fear of the Unknown
- Uncertainty
- Low Visibility

The Foggy Journey
In a haunted house, there’s always low visibility, from the thick fog, muffled sounds and strange shadows. You can barely see your feet, let alone what’s ahead. You have to grope your way through the eerie path. And just when you get a little headway, you hear a creak. Was it the floor? Someone else? A wall?
Your heart pounds as you question your every life’s decision, wondering if you should turn back. But the joke’s on you because the path behind you has already disappeared. There’s no turning back now.
Entrepreneurship Feels The Same Way
As solo professionals, we face moments when the road ahead seems unclear, filled with uncertainty about what lies ahead. Fear creeps in, and panicking in the fog will only make things worse. Stopping isn’t an option either, because that’s when the “monsters” get us.
The monsters?
- Imposter Syndrome
- Self-doubt
We have to keep moving forward, even if it’s just small steps, because the fog doesn’t lasts forever. Eventually, it will lift.
The Trick To Success:
Just like the haunted house, our entrepreneurial journey is filled with twists, turns, and foggy moments. But here’s the trick: Keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t clear. That’s how you get to the treat (peep the Halloween pun?)..
The fog won’t last forever. Eventually, clarity returns. And when it does, those of us who stayed the course will find ourselves in a stronger, more confident position.
