The only thing that gets me more excited about eating a slice of pecan pie, is putting a little scoop of ice-cream on top.
A la mode.
(This phrase is usually used when someone is requesting some ice cream on top of a dessert, typically a pie or cake. You know, a little extra delight.
In today’s newsletter, we’re going to talk about how we can capture the essence of “à la mode” when it comes to our business practices.

You wouldn’t have been entirely surprised if I told you that the idea of this newsletter came to mind because I recently indulged in some tasty pecan pie à la mode, but I didn’t, unfortunately.
I did, however, had an amazing experience with another entrepreneur, Arlene Morgan, a digital support specialist at Morgan Creative Services, who recently did some graphic design and branding work for me, so you’ll be seeing some changes in the upcoming weeks on my website and other social platforms. Here’s a sneak peak of Camp Virtual Assistance’s new monogram logo with a compass:

During this process, there was an unexpected value-add or should I say extra service, which was an absolute sweet surprise from Arlene. She offered me more than what I had originally asked for, which made everything even more of a delight and a more memorable experience.
It was services à la mode.
Arlene’s enthusiasm for artwork and design, and how much she enjoys bringing her client’s artwork to life, made me think of strategies that solo professionals could incorporate into our own businesses that we could use to enhance the value and the client experience.
Adding an “À La Mode” Touch to Your Solo Professional Services
1. Complimentary Resources
I enjoy offering extra tools that can enhance my client’s experience like checklists and templates that can help them to organize their tasks more efficiently.
2. Software
This can easily be an overwhelming task for clients when it comes to finding the right tools for their business. Have a list of your favorite software tools on your website that you can recommend to your clients.
3. E-Book
Like complimentary resources, e-books make wonderful downloads. If you’re looking to provide tips to your clients about a particular strategy, for example, content marketing, an e-book will come in very handy to offer as an extra value.
4. Newsletter/Blog/Articles
A monthly newsletter is a great tool to offer for clients to subscribe to as it will provide consistent, valuable content about your area of expertise, and a bit of your personality as well. This way, it helps you and your client to foster a deeper connection and working relationship.
Here’s the bottom line:
Just as a scoop of ice cream can enhance the deliciousness of a pecan pie, offering a little something extra can leave your clients delighted and more appreciative of your services.
These added touches are great examples of ways that you can not only provide additional value, but also help build stronger, more meaningful connections with your clients. It keeps them coming back for more.
Chuckle of the day! 😂
Why did the ice cream truck break down? Because of all the rocky roads!
