It took me a while to start my virtual assistance business. And when I say a while, I mean three years! I was back and forth about the idea and kept pushing it back, because it never felt like it was ‘the right time’.

I’m almost certain that I was living in Barbie Land and thought that someday every little thing will magically fall into place and I’d be ready to dive in with my pink pumps and pink handbag. Let’s just say that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The weight of starting a business is on you and only you! There is just never a right time to start a business.
I was caught up in over analyzing details that really turned out to be unimportant at the time, like not having the perfectly designed, Instagram-able office space with the fluffy rug, desk plant and top of the line office equipment. Looking back, I can’t believe these were some of the nonsensical things that I was dwelling on to get me motivated. Only to realize that many of us are stuck in that same situation.
If starting your own business is something that you have been thinking about for a while…stop thinking! Yes, it will be one of the hardest things you will ever have to do in your life.

There is a lot of negative self-talk that you will have to talk your way out of, and it will not be easy.
Keeping yourself motivated is harder than getting in an ice bath at 5am in the morning. I have never tried that but I’m assuming it to be true…brrrr. Turn that defeating talk around and get started on what you can do now!
Start with what you have, and the rest can come later.
The important thing is to get STARTED. Also, be aware of family and friends who may discourage you from starting your business. Even though they may mean well, sometimes they just do not understand what it takes to take control of your future.
